– Test-mule reveals additional details regarding design
– Also on offer will be a new red colour
We all know Tata Motors is working on an all new premium hatchback, known as the Altroz. Ahead of its launch, which is scheduled to take place in the months to come, a production ready test-mule of the Altroz was recently spotted during a public road test.
As seen in the spy images, the test-mule of the upcoming Tata Altroz is not fully covered in camouflage. We can see details from the design department such as the blacked out B-pillar, C-pillar mounted door handle, alloy wheels, spoiler-integrated and high-mounted stop lamp and black-coloured design elements below it on either side. Another detail revealed by the test-mule is the new red paintjob.
Details regarding the interior of the new Tata Altroz are unavailable at the moment although the model is expected to receive a freestanding touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a JBL tuned music system. Underpinned by Tata’s modular ALFA architecture, the Altroz will be the second product after the Harrier to be based on the brand’s IMPACT 2.0 design technology.
Reports suggest that the Tata Altroz is likely to be offered with three engine options including two petrol units and a diesel unit. The former will include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated motor and a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor while the latter will be a Nexon sourced 1.5-litre diesel motor. The naturally aspirated engine is expected to be paired to a five speed manual transmission whereas the other two powertrains could come mated to a six speed transmission. Once launched in India, the Tata Altroz will be a rival to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Toyota Glanza.
