Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed a baby boy in May. Ever since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced baby Sussex aka Archie to the world, everyone has been wanting to know who are his godparents.
The million dollar question that everyone has been asking is: Who are Archie Harrison’s godparents? Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their baby boy, royal fans have been eager to find out who will be the baby’s godparents. Several names have been speculated. This includes the Clooneys, George and Amal, and Harry’s older brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex haven’t confirmed the speculations. Even at Archie’s christening, the couple chose to keep the name under the wraps. Turns out, there is a good reason behind it.
If sources are to be believed, Meghan and Harry do not want the name of the godparents to come out in the open. Sources told People recently that the couple has chosen to keep the names under the wraps not just for the safety of their son, but they also intend to keep the privacy of those chosen.
The insider has confirmed that Archie’s godparents are not celebrities or public figures. This rules out all the speculations of the Clooneys, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and even Serena Williams. The source added that the godparents are the royal couple’s friends and are private citizens. “Meghan and Harry wanted to protect them from the inevitable onslaught: ‘When did you meet them? How?’ That was the driving reason [to keep them private]. It’s a very personal thing to ask somebody to be a godparent,” the source explained.
Although we might not know who are Archie’s godparents, we’ll make do with the fact that Meghan and Harry have chosen their friends to play the role of the godparents in Archie’s life. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
